The Fields that you are talking about are used for VTR control only.
They dont send the actual frame to the deck, that still has to be
recorded from the video output of whatever Framebuffer you are using.
Basically those fields can control any deck with a RS422 (or is it RS232)
port on the back. They basically tell the deck when the next frame is
ready for recording and what motions to go through (pre-roll, record,
rew, pause...etc)
Sony, Panisonic, JVC and Sanyo all make decks that are serial
controlable. As for reasonable priced....depends on what you mean by
that. I think Sanyo makes the cheapest Single frame recorder available.
Its SVHS an I think it goes for around 3-5K$.
